I'm 62, I started making knives at 14 and now since 1990 making knives some what full time.
When I first made knives they would break when I threw them at trees (boys will be boys). I used old files ,boy were they hard and brittle. I did not under stand hardening or drawing the temper back. Thank goodness I have that understanding and knowledge now.
I do scrimshaw on bone, ivory, wood, glass, & metal. I do 3 D & drop relief carving in metal and wood. I am a photographer and artist in other mediums.
I have art work and knives in Japan, Africa, all over the
U. S., and to solders in Iraq. I make a wide selection of knives from high end collector pieces to utility knives for everyday use. Examples : Hunting knives, knife and hatchet combos, Bowie's, military fighters,other large art knives from 14 in long to 2 1/2 in wide,wood carvers, kitchen knives, special purpose knives (what ever you want)
